Dishoom, Leeds

Venue: Dishoom, Leeds
Interior Design: Macaulay Sinclair

It is always a pleasure to work on a Dishoom project, and we were delighted to work once again with the Dishoom team and design team at Macaulay Sinclair on their new Leeds café.

Located on Vicar Lane, Dishoom Leeds celebrates the spirit of 1930s and ’40s Bombay, taking inspiration from the colourful Art Deco buildings of the Back Bay Reclamation and the modern, glamorous interiors of the era.

Working closely with Macaulay Sinclair, we supplied a considered mix of new, reclaimed and bespoke furniture pieces for the new venue. The furniture includes a selection of traditional Bentwood Irani dining chairs, combining new and reclaimed pieces, alongside Bentwood stools to complement the café’s relaxed dining spaces.

The Bentwood furniture is paired with our Taylor’s Exclusive Georgian cast iron table bases, supporting bespoke Sapele tabletops featuring a routered edge detail. We also produced a selection of other bespoke tabletops incorporating glass inlays and marble, adding further character and individuality to the furniture throughout the café.

The combination of traditional Bentwood seating, reclaimed furniture and bespoke manufactured tables creates a layered and authentic feel, complementing Dishoom’s distinctive interpretation of the Irani café and its celebration of Bombay’s architectural and cultural heritage.
