A really lovely unusual and quaint 19th century two-door bookcase in oak
There are many things I could say about this bookcase; it is quirky, it is unusual, it is the best oak colour, I've never seen this model before. It has two glazed upper doors which slide from side to side, and two hinged doors on the bottom and large original bun feet. The colour is to die for, it’s just a proper piece of country, folky, oak furniture.
You can imagine the old undertaker or the estate workshop manager having his wife say one morning ‘we could just do with a bookcase to go in the corner of our little sitting room but we haven't got much room for the doors to open. So could you make them slide’ and hey presto, they come up with this solution, and it’s quite lovely. We will check it over and make sure it is in good order.
