Piano to Cocktail Bar: A Transformation Posted 13th November 2014

Did you know we’re not just about furniture here at Taylor’s? And we love a good challenge when we see one.

So when we were approached by Harrison Design to convert a piano into a cocktail bar, we Piano to cocktail barcouldn’t wait to get stuck in.

Bespoke manufacturing services

Young & Co.’s Brewery wanted something a little different for Piano to cocktail bar plantheir pub, The Halfway House in Earlsfield. After speaking to their interior design consultancy, Harrison Design, they decided upon a cocktail bar. But this had to be different. It couldn’t just be any old run-of-the-mill design; so they decided to use a piano as the base and adapt it to suit their needs. A fantastically different idea. But they needed someone to carry out the work for them. That’s when we got involved.

Having known about the great quality furniture we produce, along with the fact that we provide bespoke manufacturing, Harrison Design got in contact with us and decided to put our services to the test. We were given a French walnut upright piano and tasked to turn it into a unique, illuminated cocktail bar that would be the talk of the town.

We accepted the challenge, put two of our best men on the job and soon enough, Martyn Whitehouse and Richard Everitt had got to work. We continually worked alongside Elsa Nugent of Harrison Design to ensure that everything was exactly as they required.

The piano was first converted into a lockable cabinet and, to enable it to function as a cocktail bar, we also added glass hangers, a bottle rack and LED lights.

Before we knew it, we’d finished. And the moment we stood back to look at the finished project is truly something we can remember with pride.
