A very unusual late 19th Century 'kitchen table' or perhaps 'cash and wrap' table with elm top, circa 1880.
This is a lovely table with some great features. Its made by a firm in Gloucester called Matthews and company, they were a quality manufacturer as this table is a testament too.
The lovely washed out elm top has a great moulded edge, the legs I think are a great shape again with reeded decoration. The large 'block' feet I really like and I can only think they were made that way so that people could mop around them. This would make a great table in a kitchen, pub, restaurant or shop.
